Instant Baby Brine Shrimp: 100% natural baby brine shrimp

Ocean Nutrition has developed the Instant Brine Shrimp, a revolutionary product that allows you to use Brine Shrimp when and where you need them. The product consists entirely of sterile newborn nauplii in a water solution. Nothing else has been added, no preservatives or colorants. The product is natural, as if you would have hatched the Brine Shrimp yourself.

The product can be kept and stored at room temperature for many years, as long as the container is not opened. Once open, the product needs to be kept cool in the refrigerator and can be kept for up to 6 weeks, like the Baby Brine Shrimp you would have hatched yourself. The packaging of the product has a metal cover clearly showing whether or not the product has been opened, to avoid any surprise.

It contains a net weight of over 20g (0.7 oz.) drain weight, or in excess of 1.5 million nauplii. For more information click HERE

We find that vinegar eels provide a tremendous advantage with numerous species of fishes including bettas. We use them with nearly all egg layers. Frequently we find that a batch of fry will have wide variations in the growth rates amongst the clutch, feeding a much smaller food that the average fry might eat seems to increase the number of fry which can survive. Even with fry that can eat baby brine shrimp at hatching, we tend to use vinegar eels to bridge the period between feedings. Vinegar eels are easy to culture. Vinegar eels can survive for days in water.

The nematode Panagrellus sp., commonly known as "microworms" to tropical fish hobbyists are an alternate live food for fry. Microworms are one of the simplest live foods to culture. They produce a dependable harvest and are tolerant of environmental variables. These nematodes are small (usually less than l/16" long), white, unsegmented worms that move continuously.
The tail end is pointed while the mouth end is more rounded. They are approximately 15 times as long as they are wide. Because of their size and shape, they can be fed to fish that are too small to take a brine shrimp nauplii. Microworms remain alive in fresh water for twelve hours or more.
